It breaks our hearts to share that our beloved Jaime Gomez has passed on and is no longer with us.
We will be creating a temporary alter to honor Jaime this Sunday at the Rail Yards Market. Please feel free to come by and honor his memory 10am-1pm. Bring a flower, photo, or anything to contribute to the alter. He meant a lot the Farmers' Market Community, and it has been an honor to know Jaime and his family.
Jaime was the life of the party at the Rail Yards Market ABQ and Albuquerque Downtown Growers' Market for many years. His cheerful voice echoed through the market every morning and we all knew him there. "Fresh Tortillas!" became a staple of the market, and the market just wasn't the same without him --though he rarely ever missed a day.
Jaime once told us that he had been vending since he was 6 years old on the streets of Mexico. He taught our crew a new Spanish word every weekend, and we'd grown to lovingly call him our "Maestro". He always brought his sweet family to our community potlucks, and we have the fondest memories of his spontaneous singing and festive nature. ... See more
